Make good memories.

One of my coworkers is retiring and I will miss her. She has worked with me for over twenty years. We have had a lot of laughs shared a lot of tears and leaned on each other when problems surfaced. But as with all things in life there is an end to it's season. Just as the flowers bloom in the spring and fade in the fall this bond's bloom will die but hopefully its roots are strong enough to  flower again in the new definition of the relationship. With that hope in mind I must refocus my attention on today and the task at hand, work.
I must decide with whom I will replace this devoted, perfectionist of an employee. Oh, I am all too familiar with the old saying that "no one is irreplaceable " but their are also people that can never be replaced. However, their job will be still get done?  This, for me is one of the harder management tasks because you have to look at the whole picture of relationships before you make a decision and secondly, you have to personally be willing to live with that choice.
